My opportunities are endless

Journal entry #2

It's mid day and I'm at it again, this time with a clear goal of making sure I stay grounded and not in the clouds.

Today I'll be unearthing the mistake of being in the clouds.

So, you might know what I'm talking about when I say being in the clouds, you start a new project, idea, or course of action and everything seems like it's all unicorn and rainbows. You are off to a great start and everything is fine and dandy. This is the time you put up your sleeves up and start building up your foundation, the mind and body are in tuned with your creativity. Transforming ideas to the material world as content, it's so much fun, so use that energy to produce as much ideas and content as you can. The more you produce the easier it will be when you are bogged down and feel like you have nothing to give. Not every idea you jot down will be used, but all of that content that isn't created, posted, shared and published can give you more fuel for the bogged up days. I say this because I experienced it first hand.

So a little more about me; I worked in the culinary world for about 18 years and I loved going to work and cooking and creating delicious meals. But the last couple of years in the industry were the hardest times for me. I was stuck in a restaurant where creativity was limited. The menu was set and nothing can be changed, but that didn't stop me from creating an outlet for my creativity.

The previous restaurant I worked for before this particular one I'm talking about, I had created logs and charts to fill in each day. It was used to document weekly usages, daily preparation and cleaning assignments.  So with my experience and knowledge I made up logs and charts that can be utilized by the kitchen staff and myself.

Creativity is such a funny thing sometimes, because of what I did, I created a new sense of energy and willingness to share my idea to the staff. They felt it was so useful and easy to follow. It made me feel good and after that moment I was out of my rut.

So, don't feel discouraged when things don't go your way, just remember to find alternative ways to push through those hard times. The best ways I overcome those bad times are by; having ideas in your back pocket, using previous experiences and knowledge to create a new avenue for your current situation or circumstance. You are never in the mercy of your surroundings for long, you have the choice to change your circumstance. Never forget that!

To end this entry I want to encourage all of you to never stop creating and never stop jotting down "bad" ideas, you never know when you might turn a bad idea to a great idea.

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new" - Albert Einstein
